Ceylon(Sri Lanka) and Cinnamon

The pearl of the Indian Ocean, Sri lanka is filled with cultural and natural treasures. Indians, Portuguese, Dutch and British have all left their marks here, making for a delightful mix of ancient cities, monuments and grand colonial architecture. As a result of all of those, the first systematic cultivation of cinnamon happened in Sri Lanka in 1767. During the time of Sinhala Kings the ministary of state revenue had been the taxes on lands and its productions, especially cinnamon, collected from wild natural growers in the central hills of Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka's superior quality cinnamon has a thin smooth dark golden yellow color and a nice frangrance, and a sweet, warm and pleasing aromatic taste. Today the cinnamon cultivation is concentrated along the coastal belt of the Sri Lanka, stretching from Negombo to Matara and the inland areas of Kalutara, Kosgoda, Ambalangoda, Matara and Ratnapura.
